What “Queued” Means In Gmail And How To Fix It

Gmail is one of the widest used email platforms in the world. It’s not uncommon for users to run into issues and errors on the Gmail platform. “Queued” emails are one of the most common user issues. But what is it?

Queued emails are emails stuck in your outbox that Gmail will try to send later. This can happen due to low storage space, threshold limits, and connection issues. You can disable and enable Gmail Sync or clear the app’s cache to try and force the email to send, and escalate from there.

Don’t panic if your Gmail account isn’t sending an important email immediately. Queued emails are a common issue and easy to troubleshoot. Here’s everything you need to know.

You won’t be able to send an email immediately if you come across a queued email in Gmail. Queued emails are stuck in your outbox, and the Gmail platform will try to send them later. Queued email issues might be more common on Android devices than on iOS platforms.

Why Your Emails Are Getting Queued

Queued emails in Gmail can be confusing when you’re trying to communicate with others. Fortunately, there are a few common reasons for queued emails.

  • Low storage space: You might come across queued emails if your device is low on storage space. Once your device has found additional storage space or cleared up files, the email will be sent out from your outbox.
  • Connectivity errors: Connection limitations and issues can cause delays in the form of queued emails. Connectivity issues are more likely if you send large files and documents on the Gmail platform. The problem might also be between your device, app, network, or server.
  • Gmail is reaching its threshold limit: Gmail can reach a threshold limit when you send several bulk emails. You might encounter restrictions, especially if you use a free Google account. You might need to wait several hours or a full 24 hours for emails to leave the queue.

How to Fix Queued Emails in Gmail

Queued emails in Gmail might only be a problem for mobile users. Be sure to send a test email from your desktop or laptop to see if the issue is resolved. If you can send an email from your desktop, you can know that you have an issue with the mobile app. Here are some potential solutions.

Enable and Disable Sync

  1. Launch your Gmail app.
  1. Head over to the Settings tab from the Gmail menu.
  1. From Settings, click Accounts.
  1. Select the Google Account in question.
  1. Choose Email Account and locate the Data Usage section.
  1. You’ll notice a checkbox next to Sync Gmail. Click on the box to uncheck it.
  1. Now, reboot your device.
  1. After your device has completely restarted, enable the Sync Gmail feature and see if your issue is resolved.

Enabling and disabling Gmail Sync should resolve the issue for most devices. However, you might need to use more troubleshooting methods if your problem isn’t fixed.

Other TroubleShooting Methods

Don’t panic if enabling and disabling Gmail Synch didn’t solve your issue. Other troubleshooting methods are available, such as clearing the Gmail app cache. Follow the steps below to start.

Following these steps will clear your Gmail apps cache and disable any emails stuck in a queue. However, you might need to restart your device, force shut down your Gmail app, or log into your account to notice the benefits.
