SplashTop

Keep in mind that SplashTop is mainly a tool used for remote access. This means it lets you access your Windows desktop from your Apple device remotely for a subscription fee. Before you begin the setup process, ensure that iTunes is downloaded onto your Windows PC and Apple iPad. Then proceed as follows:

  1. Begin by installing SplashTop on your iPad and SplashTop XDisplay Agent on your PC.
  2. Once everything is installed, connect your iPad to your Windows computer using a standard charging cable.

Duet Display also includes more features with their subscription service. With Duet Air, you’ll receive wireless connectivity, remote desktop capabilities, and improved graphics. The connection process is roughly similar to that of SplashTop.

iDisplay

If you hate the idea of a wired connection, there are wireless options such as iDisplay. With iDisplay, your iPad and Windows computer connect via WiFi. This means you won’t need any cumbersome cords or wires. However, iDisplay’s iOS app is the most expensive on our list.

  1. First, be sure you have iTunes installed on your Windows computer.
  2. Install SplashTop on your iPad and SplashTop XDisplay Agent on your PC.
  3. Once everything is installed, connect your Apple device to your Windows computer using a standard charging cable, such as the Essri Lightning Cable (on Amazon).
  4. Start the SplashDisplay software on both your PC and iPad. After a few moments, you should notice your desktop appears on the iPad screen.
  5. Ensure your device is on “extend” by holding the function key. A menu should open up on the right-hand side of the screen. Select “extend.”

Can an iPad Be Used as a Second Monitor Wirelessly?

Another way you can use your iPad as a second monitor is through Spacedesk, which allows you to connect your devices wirelessly.

This frees up your physical desk space and will enable you to charge your iPad simultaneously. Spacedesk also supports HD resolutions and has customizable features. To set up Spacedesk, follow these simple steps:

  1. Begin by installing Spacedesk on your iPad and Windows PC.
  2. When both applications are finished installing, you can connect your computer and iPad to the same WiFi network.
  3. Search for the Spacedesk software using the Windows search function. Open the app and create a desktop shortcut for faster access.
  4. Next, open the Spacedesk software on your iPad. An approval prompt should appear. Select OK and enable Spacedesk to find and pair the devices on your WiFi network.
  5. You should see your computer’s name appear on the iPad app. Select ‘Connection.’ Now you should see your Windows screen on your iPad.
