How To See Your Past Likes And Other Activity On Instagram

Instagram is one of the most popular forms of social media today, based around photos initially and recently shifting to video-focused. It allows users to post content, and other users may interact with that content by hitting like or commenting and using the save button to refer back to the content later. However, many users wonder if there’s a way to scroll through their past likes.

Instagram lets you see your past likes and other data, such as account history, saved posts, and story archives. Most of this is viewable by heading to your profile, then tapping the three lines in the top right corner that will take you into your settings. However, the data is often limited.

Let’s take a closer look at how to see your past likes on Instagram, as well as other activities available to view, so that you can get the most out of this feature and understand what data the company has saved on you.

Can You See Your Past Likes on Instagram?

Checking Instagram post

Instagram has a “save” button feature so you can bookmark the posts you’d like to go back and view later, and the “like” feature isn’t intended for this purpose—which is why people might find it difficult to see their past likes.

However, there is a way to do it if you know where to go. You must be on the mobile app, as the desktop one will not let you view these posts.

How to Find Posts You’ve Liked on Instagram

To find the posts you’ve liked on Instagram, follow these steps:

  1. First, head to your Profile page.
  1. Tap the three lines in the top right corner.
  1. Choose Your Activity.
  1. Select Interactions.
  1. Select Likes.
  1. Here, you can view the last 300 posts you liked, as Instagram doesn’t allow you to go any further back than this. You can tap on any of the posts to be directly to it.
  1. From this page, you can also unlike posts. If you tap the Select button, you can choose as many pictures as you like and mass-unlike them.

Can You See Posts Others Have Liked?

Instagram used to be a lot more open about showing other users’ activities on feeds, allowing you to see posts they liked and commented on. However, in recent years, Instagram has been more discreet, so there’s no way to access someone else’s liked posts.

The only way is by looking at posts individually to see if that user has liked them.

Other Activity You Can View on Instagram

You can view a few other things on Instagram that will tell you about your recent activity.

Account History

You can also view your account history from the same three lines you selected in the profile to see your past likes. Select Your Activity again and head into Account History to see changes you’ve made to the account. This includes things like:

  • Changes you’ve made to your bio.
  • Swapping your account between public and private.
  • Swapping your account between business and personal.
  • Adding and removing a website from your profile.

Saved Posts

If you want to refer back to a post later, you can hit the bookmark icon to save it. Then, from the same three lines on your profile, you can choose Saved to view all of these posts at once.

Archive

In the same menu, there’s an option for Archive.

Although your stories are only viewable for 24 hours to other people, they remain in your account forever. You can access them here to add them to your highlights or view them again. If you ever deleted a story rather than letting it expire, you will not be able to view it here.

Under the same settings, you can also see Memories. This highlights stories that happened a year (or any number of years ago), making them easy to re-add to your story if you choose to.

In Summary

Overall, Instagram is pretty good for storing your activity and data, and it’s easy to see posts you’ve liked. However, it’s important to remember that it only goes back by 300, so anything further than that is lost unless you go and check the original post.
