How To Split-Screen A Curved Monitor

In the past few years, curved monitors have become easier to find and more popular. Something about a curved monitor makes you want to get lost in its sea of pixels, whether you’re writing a review of the latest gadget or spending hours playing your favorite game. But if you only use one window at a time, you aren’t using all that space to its full potential.

You can split-screen a curved (aka “ultrawide”) monitor using the Picture-By-Picture feature or Windows Snap Assist on Windows 10. Additionally, you can use software such as PowerToys, which provides access to more advanced features when screen-splitting monitors.

Ultrawide monitors are an excellent way to increase productivity or improve your gaming experience. It’s evident that in full-screen mode, an ultrawide monitor allows you to see everything much better. Let’s jump into the details, so you find out everything about screen splitting a curved monitor.

Can You Split-Screen a Curved Monitor?

The software provided by most ultrawide curved monitor manufacturers permits simple split-screening or side-by-side viewing of numerous windows. The monitors from Samsung, LG, and others have simple and free built-in solutions. Moreover, some software offers identical functionality.

How to Split Screen a Curved Monitor

Here are a couple of ways to split-screen a curved monitor:

Picture-by-Picture Screen Splitting on Curved Monitors

With an ultrawide monitor’s Picture-by-Picture (PBP) split-screen feature, you can use two inputs simultaneously, giving you two screens on the monitor. To use the PBP feature to split-screen your curved monitor:

  1. Navigate to the Display menu and open Settings.
  1. Adjust the input setting from Single Input to PBP by clicking Input.
  1. Then, adjust the aspect ratio as per availability.
  1. Change the remaining settings based on the model of your display.
  1. Now, wait until your monitor splits the screen into two separate displays.

To configure your display settings and ensure they align well, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Press Windows + I on your device to open the Settings app on your secondary system,
  1. Then, go to System and select Display.
  1. Expand the Display resolution drop-down under Scale & layout and select a higher resolution supported by your ultrawide monitor.
  1. Now, your screen should turn black and adapt to the new settings. To save the configuration, click the button labeled Keep Changes.

Split-Screen on Windows 10

With Windows 10 Snap Assist feature, you can drag and drop a window to the screen area where you want it to be snapped. Here’s how to use Snap Assist to split the screen:

  1. Select the window to be snapped to one half of the screen, then drag it to the edge.
  1. When you snap your chosen window, you’ll see several options for filling the second half if you have other windows or applications open. When you click on one, it will snap into place opposite the first window. If you do, the selection grid will stay the same. To fix this, drag your second window to the edge of the space.
  1. Hover the cursor over the dividing line until it turns into two arrows to resize the two windows. To adjust the two windows, click and hold on to the divider.

Alternatively:

  1. Press and hold the Windows key.
  1. Press the Left or Right arrow key. If you press the Left arrow key, the active program window shows on the left side of the split screen. If you press the Right arrow key, it shows on the right side of the split screen.
