How Do I Get My Permanently Banned TikTok Account Back?

Nothing is as freaky as waking up to see your TikTok account banned permanently. TikTok may suspend users’ accounts temporarily for various reasons, but unexplained permanent bans are more frustrating. So, how do you get your permanently banned TikTok account back?

To recover your permanently banned TikTok account, you must create an appeal through TikTok Support. If that doesn’t work, send a direct email to the Support Team. You can also contact them through the feedback form. The last resort is creating a new profile with a different username.

If your account is still growing and you have one to two hundred-ish followers, you may not feel a ban as intensely. But if you’re devoted to uploading fresh content daily and are gaining a decent following, it can be a soul-crushing experience. Now let’s get started, so you know how to recover your TikTok account.

Depending on your scenario, these are the three practical ways to get your permanently banned TikTok account back:

Option 1: Create an Appeal Through TikTok Support

Whenever your TikTok account gets banned, you’ll get an email from the Support Team. You can either wait up to 48 hours for your account to be restored or contact Support immediately.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Launch TikTok and tap the Profile icon.
  1. Navigate to Privacy and Settings.
  1. Tap Report a Problem under the Privacy section.
  1. Select Account and Profile, then tap Other on the Profile page.
  1. Choose Still Have a Problem and explain your issue in detail in the box.
  1. Tap the Report button to finish.

You can also contact TikTok Support through the feedback form. While it’s usually made for users to share their experience when using the app, you can use it to report a severe problem with your account, such as a ban you believe is unfair.

Open the Share your Feedback form on a new tab in your browser and proceed as follows:

  1. Fill in your contact details, the email address linked to your TikTok, and your username.
  1. Scroll down the form to where you’re asked to provide the topic, subtopic, and description of your appeal.
  1. On the Topic dropdown box, choose the Account Ban/Suspension option.
  1. Tap Tell Us More, then choose the option that best describes your issue.
    • It can be Banned Account (age-related), Livestream, or Banned Account (not age-related).
  1. Ultimately, it’s time to delve into the details, so describe your issue clearly in the How Can We Help? box and plead to remove the ban on your account.

After describing your issue, you can upload up to 10 screenshots under the Attachments option. It helps to include the screenshot for the “Your account was permanently banned” message.

If you chose the “Livestream” or “Banned account (age-related)” option, be sure to upload a clear photo of you holding an ID. It’s the best way to prove you’re above 16. Once you’ve submitted the feedback form, you’ll wait for a couple of days before you get a response.

Option 2: Send An Email to TikTok Support

Another way to recover your banned TikTok account is by emailing the Support Team. It’s a highly recommended option if you get no feedback after 6-8 hours of appealing by other means.

Since your account may have been banned due to copyright infringement and Community Guidelines violations, it’s best to write to TikTok’s legal department.

Here’s a list of TikTok’s operational email addresses that might be helpful:

While appealing to recover your account, mentioning your email address and important (but non-sensitive) TikTok account details is necessary.

To be blunt, convincing them to lift the ban on your account may not be as easy as it sounds. You might have to appeal several times to be successful.

While at it, explain your situation in detail, especially why you think the ban was unfair. You also want to refrain from hateful speech or harsh language that may violate TikTok’s guidelines.

Option 3: Create a New Profile

If submitting a TikTok appeal doesn’t work, creating a new profile with a different username may be your last resort, although it’s not ideal.

As you create a new profile, follow these steps to create a strong and unique password that will keep your account safe:

  • Aim for 12 to 15 characters.
  • Mix uppercase and lowercase letters, symbols, and numbers.
  • You should also update your password often, say every 30 days.

Another way to keep your TikTok account safe and secure is through 2-step verification (2SV). It adds an extra layer of security that helps the platform verify you if you sign in from an unrecognized device.

Even if someone has managed to get your password, they still need access to your phone number or email to log in.

Follow these steps to turn on 2-step verification on TikTok:

  1. First, confirm you’ve installed the latest version of TikTok.
  1. Next, launch the app and tap Profile at the bottom right.
  1. Next, tap the Hamburger Menu (3-line icon) in the top right.
  1. Navigate to Settings and Privacy, then tap Security and Login.
  1. Tap 2-Step Verification and select SMS and email as your primary verification methods.
  1. Finally, tap Turn On to confirm.

If you have not entered your contact information before, you’ll get a prompt to fill in your email address and cellphone number. Tap Send Code and check your email or Messages for the code you’ll enter on the next screen.

You may also use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to safely access your TikTok account if you’ve traveled to any countries where it’s banned. A VPN software will assign you a new IP address and add a layer of security and privacy.

This way, you can safely access your TikTok account abroad without being banned or locked out of your account.

However, it’s crucial to choose a reputable VPN. There are many VPN apps for Android and iOS, but only a few can bypass location restrictions.

One caveat of using a VPN is that your Feed will get different content depending on the location you’ve set.

Why Did My TikTok Account Get Permanently Banned?

Your TikTok account may get permanently banned due to the following reasons and conditions:

Age Restrictions

TikTok started banning accounts after paying a $5.3 million settlement fee to the FTC (Federal Trading Commission) on the grounds of violating the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.

Before then, anyone could create an account and post content, including children below 13. But following the settlement, many users have had their accounts banned, even if they’re not minors.

As heart-wrenching as it sounds, sometimes TikTok’s algorithm misperceives a user’s age and permanently bans them. The only way to get around this is by sharing your proof of ID with the Support Team and appealing to have them lift the ban.

Community Guidelines Violation

TikTok’s Community Guidelines violation include:

  • Spamming other users.
  • Exceeding the daily following and comments limit.
  • Publishing content that shows nudity.

If TikTok realizes you’ve posted offensive content or violated any of these Guidelines in any way, you’ll get a permanent account ban.

Third-Party Account Monetization

Your TikTok account may get a permanent ban if you try to monetize it using third-party apps without considering the infringement of the platform’s Community Guidelines.

TikTok doesn’t allow you to post content over which another user holds exclusive copyright. If you go against this policy, you’ll be banned from the platform.

Exceeding Video Posting Limit

TikTok only allows nine consecutive video posts per day, meaning you’ll get banned if you go beyond this over a short period.

Inappropriate Activities

TikTok’s algorithms monitor your follower counts and interactions, such as comments and likes. If they suspect an uncanny pattern change, they’ll rule that you’re using bots and ban your account.

Location Restrictions

TikTok is heavily censored in many regions and banned in countries like Bangladesh, Syria, Indonesia, and Armenia. Unfortunately, this means you can’t access it if you’ve recently traveled to one of these countries.

What Type of Content Does TikTok Ban?

TikTok usually bans content that violates the Community Guidelines, including:

  • Pornographic videos or other sexually explicit content.
  • Blackmail threats.
  • Misguiding, impersonating, or spam content.
  • Anything that threatens public safety.
  • Violent graphics.
  • Content that depicts or glorifies self-harm.
  • Content that promotes fraud, scams, and bad marketing schemes.
  • Content that promotes criminal activities like weapons and drug trade.
