How To Use TikTok’s Pixar Filter

The Pixar Filter, or the Cartoon 3D Style Filter, is the latest trend to take the social media world by storm. The filter is an incredibly fun way to make yourself look like a Pixar movie character. It’s extremely easy to apply the filter, so feel free to try it out yourself!

It’s important to note that TikTok doesn’t actually have the Pixar filter, so you’ll have to open Snapchat to use it. Launch Snapchat, tap ‘Explore,’ type in ‘Cartoon 3D Style,’ make a video with the filter, and tap ‘Save’ to download it to your device. Then, simply upload the video on TikTok. 

If you’ve seen your friends transformed into Pixar characters, you’re probably aching to try it yourself. So let’s look at where you can find the Pixar filter on TikTok, how you can use it, and what you should do if the filter isn’t working, so you can join in on this fun, viral trend.

Where to Find the Pixar Filter on TikTok

Cartoon Filter Snapchat

The Disney filter, Cartoon filter, Pixar filter, and Barbie filter are a bunch of different names referring to the latest viral effect on TikTok. 

It’s most commonly called the Disney filter, because it completely animates your face, making it look like you’ve just stepped out of a magical Disney movie. 

Although the filter is mainly going viral on TikTok, you won’t actually find the effect there. Instead, the Pixar filter is only available on Snapchat.  

How to Use the Pixar Filter

Since TikTok doesn’t have the Pixar filter, you’ll have to first open Snapchat to use the filter: 

  1. Launch the Snapchat app on your device and tap the smiley face next to the camera button.
  2. Tap ‘Explore’ at the bottom-right corner of your screen.
  3. Type in ‘Cartoon 3D Style’ and locate the one uploaded by Snapchat.
  4. Click on it and make a video.
  5. Tap ‘Save’ in the bottom-left corner to download the video to your device. 

Now that you have your Pixar filter video on your device, you simply need to upload it on TikTok. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Launch the TikTok app on your device.
  2. Tap the ‘+’ icon, and then tap ‘Upload.’
  3. Select the Pixar filter video and tap ‘Next.’
  4. Add music to the video or edit it any way you like. Then, tap ‘Next.’
  5. Write a caption and tap ‘Post.’

What to Do if the Pixar Filter Isn’t Working

If the Pixar filter isn’t working, there are a few things you can try:

Update the App

Update Snapchat and TikTok on iPhone 

  1. Launch the App Store on your iPad or iPhone.
  2. Tap the account icon at the top of your screen.
  3. Under the ‘Available Updates’ section, scroll down until you find Snapchat and TikTok, and then tap the ‘Update’ option next to both apps.
  4. If you want to update all pending apps at once, tap ‘Update All.’
  5. Try using the Pixar filter once both updates are complete. 

Update Snapchat and TikTok on Android

  1. Launch the Play Store app on your Android device.
  2. Tap the account icon at the top-right corner of your screen.
  3. Tap ‘Manage apps and device.’
  4. In the Overview tab, tap ‘Updates available.’
  5. Look for TikTok and Snapchat in the list, and then tap the ‘Update’ option next to both apps. You can also tap ‘Update all’ to update all pending apps at once.
  6. Once the updates are complete, you can use the latest version of both apps. 

Reset Your Phone

For iOS

  1. Press and hold the side button and either the volume up or volume down button until you see the power-off slider on the screen.
  2. Drag the slider and wait around 30 seconds for your iPhone to turn off.
  3. Turn your iOS device back on by holding the side button until the Apple logo appears on the screen (click here for a full reset guide).  

For Android

  1. Hold the power button for around five to 10 seconds or until the power menu appears on the screen.
  2. Tap ‘Restart’ or ‘Reboot’ to restart your device. 

Log In and Out of the App

For iOS 

  1. Launch your Snapchat app.
  2. Tap your Bitmoji or the profile icon in your screen’s top-left corner.
  3. Tap the Settings icon in your screen’s top-right corner.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of your screen and tap ‘Log Out.’
  5. Tap ‘Log Out’ in the pop-up dialog box.
  6. To log back in, relaunch the app and enter your login credentials. 

It’s best if you log in and out of TikTok as well: 

  1. Launch your TikTok app.
  2. Tap the profile icon at the bottom-right corner of your screen.
  3. Tap the three dots in your screen’s top right corner.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of your screen and tap ‘Log Out.’
  5. Tap ‘Confirm’ to finish logging out.
  6. To log back in, relaunch the app and enter your login credentials.

For Android  

  1. Launch your Snapchat app.
  2. Tap your Bitmoji or the profile icon in your screen’s top-left corner.
  3. Tap the Settings icon in your screen’s top-right corner.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of your screen and tap ‘Log Out.’
  5. Tap ‘Log Out’ in the pop-up dialog box.
  6. Relaunch the app and enter your login credentials to log back in. 

It’s best if you log in and out of TikTok as well: 

  1. Launch your TikTok app.
  2. Tap the profile icon at the bottom-right corner of your screen.
  3. Tap the three dots to access the Settings menu.
  4. Find and tap ‘Log Out.’
  5. If you want to save your login info, tap ‘Save.’
  6. Tap ‘Log Out.’
  7. Relaunch the app and enter your login credentials to log back in.
